The Gospel of Exodus: Love Your Spouse
The Ten Commandments are the summation of all the laws. God has given us the law so that we can know how God desires His people to live. At Mount Sinai, God gave Israel His law, but only after they entered into a covenant relationship with Him. God's grace precedes the law. The law shows us how to live, but it doesn't grant us access to God
The heart of the law is to love God and love your neighbor as yourself. We have seen that the first four commands were specific to loving God, and the last six are about loving our neighbors as a result of loving God. We love God and our neighbor by honoring our parents, by loving life, and now we are going to see we love our neighbor by loving our spouse.
Our goal is to understand and apply the ethical implications of God's law to our lives through studying the biblical command, building a theological foundation for sex and family, applying Jesus' teaching on the law, and discerning what this means for daily living
