Job Description
Children’s Director – General Statement

 The Children’s Director will exercise initiative and creativity in overseeing out ministry to children (Nursey age-6th grade). This person must work well on a team as well as be able to relate effectively to people of all ages. Recognizing that the role of spiritual leaders belongs to parents first, the Children’s Director will work alongside parents to encourage and support the spiritual growth and maturity of their children. We are seeking an individual who will dedicate careful thought and heartfelt enthusiasm to developing, implementing, and directing an effective Children’s Ministry.

Children’s Director – Duties

1. Direct responsibility for the Sunday and Wednesday night programs for children

2. Dependable presence on Sunday Morning and Wednesday nights to greet children and parents.

3. Communication to parents of children’s activities through mail, email, website, newsletter, etc.

4. Recruit, delegate, and train volunteers to fill supporting roles in all activities of the Children’s Ministry.

5. Be responsible for the safety of children. Reporting equipment or harmful property damages to the building and Grounds Chairperson.

6. Be persistent at worship on Sunday morning.

7. Coordinate and provide oversight to leaders for all Children’s Ministry programs and activities- Extended Session, Vacation Bible School, Camps, and Bible Drill.

8. Attend Staff Meetings when called by the Lead Pastor.

9. Communicate regularly with Lead Pastor and church staff.

10. Make sure all volunteers have all volunteers have a criminal and sex offender background check.

 Qualifications
1. A mature, growing believer with a clear understanding of the Gospel and the ability to clearly communicate it.

2. Commitment to spiritual and personal integrity.

3. Satisfactory completion of criminal and sex offender

4. CPR and First Aid Certified.

5. Experience in children’s Christian education, elementary education, or childcare development preferred.

6. Regular and disciplined personal worship, Bible study, and prayer time.

7. Ability to lead and thrive in a team-based environment and relate well with co-workers and volunteers.

8. Flexibility and perseverance to adapt and rise above circumstances as needed.

9. Teachable, responsive, and respectful of authority.

10. Must love and relate to children well.

11. Must possess a good understanding of a child’s faith and a child’s faith development process with the goal of helping the child become a professing Christian.

12. Must be a good communicator with children as well as the parents/guardians.

13. Must be able to use appropriate mediums of communication: email, letters, telephone, and face-to-face conversations.

14. Computer literate.

15. Must possess organizational and administrative skills.

16. Adherence to Personnel Policies and Procedure Handbook and doctrine of OGBC.
